The Little Fir Tree - Heritage Brown Hoody

One cold December night
On a snow covered floor,
Deep in the woods,
Stood a small solitary fir:
It had very few needles,
And was barely three feet tall, 
A scrawny little thing –
Not impressive at all.

This might sound unimportant,
But it’s quite sad you see,
As a Christmas trees purpose
is to spread joy and glee.
The little tree sighed
“Who will ever love me?”.

And so there it stood, 
With its branches so bare,
Feeling no living creature 
would ever care,
Under the moonlight,
With frost in the air.

All of a sudden, 
came a rustling sound,
From deep in thickets,
The snow crunching from footsteps
Across the ground.

The little fir trembled:
“What could it possibly be? 
it sounds so fierce,
Is it coming for me?”
It’s branches quivered
As the steps drew near,
Then all of a sudden 
Little gasps filled the air…

There stood a Hedgehog…
A Rabbit…
A Robin…
And a Fox…
“This tree is perfect!” 
As they cried as they set down a box:
They lifted the lid,
Revealing bright decorations,
And they dressed the tree 
With baubles placed in perfect formation.

Now the final touch:
All we need is a star,
To make this the most handsome 
Christmas tree by far!
Robin spread his wings,
He knew what to do: 
high in the sky 
our feathered friend flew!
He gently plucked down 
the brightest star he could see,
then dove back to the others   
and placed it on the tree.
The friends fell silent:
You could hear a pin drop
as the light shone brightly 
on the little firs top.

“This is the beautifullest fir I ever did see…”
Gasped little hedgehog.
“How much more wonderful 
could it possibly be?”.
He looked around at his friends,
it was easy to see,
Smiling from ear to ear, 
they all  clearly agreed.
But none of them were happier,
than our once sad little tree.

The moral of our story: 
Please share kindness and care, 
And reminds those who are lonely
That that you’ll always be there.
